Treacherous rivalries and vocal jousts between two superstar Italian divas with an overblown sense of pride. In the 1720's La Cuzzoni and La Bordoni immortalised some of Handel's greatest feminine roles. Their intense rivalry came to a head when they violently insulted and physically attacked one another, pulling each other's hair on stage in front of a scandalised audience during a performance of Bononcini's Astianatte!
